An editor's note

The person who picks up at 01 89 71 09 11 is a Paris 911 dispatcher — not a call centre, not an answering machine. They quote a flat rate, identify the failure mode and route the nearest in-house certified plumber. No subcontractor lotteries, no surprise "door-opening" surcharges.

First sixty seconds

You describe the leak — burst pipe under a Haussmann sink, water heater pouring into a cellar, a flooded bathroom in the 11e. The dispatcher quotes a capped flat rate, confirms your arrondissement and dispatches the nearest of our 47 in-house artisans plus 89 on-call partners across Île-de-France.

First thirty minutes

A real-time GPS link arrives by SMS so you see the technician's name, photo and ETA. On arrival they isolate the leak, photograph the damage for your insurer and begin mitigation — drying equipment, water shut-off coordination with your gardien if needed, and same-evening full repair where parts allow.

Pricing, plainly

All rates follow the regulated Parisian artisan barème and are written on the invoice before work begins. We bill direct to AXA, Allianz, Generali and other home insurers for covered events — including police-issued boarding-up after a burglary, should plumbing have been damaged in a forced entry.

Whatever the leak, we route it — six failure modes Paris 911 covers every day of the year.

Each card names a real Parisian plumbing emergency. If yours is on this list, we have already dispatched it hundreds of times and can quote you a fixed rate by phone before the truck rolls.

01

Burst pipe & flooding

Frozen or corroded copper pipes splitting in a Haussmann wall, a ruptured flex hose under a kitchen sink, water pouring through a 19e-arrondissement ceiling into the apartment below. Emergency shut-off, water extraction, drying fans and same-evening repair by an in-house Paris 911 artisan.

02

Water heater & cumulus failure

Cumulus tank leaking, no hot water before an early Conseil des Ministres meeting, an electric water heater tripping the entire apartment breaker at 6 a.m. Replacement of standard 200 L and 300 L units from the van — Atlantic, Thermor, Ariston — usually in a single visit.

03

Gas leak & boiler breakdown

Suspected gas smell in a Marais kitchen, a Viessmann or Frisquet boiler locked out mid-winter, a condensing unit with a pressure-loss fault. Coordination with GRDF when isolation is needed, certified PGI technicians for any appliance touching the gas network.

Gas-safe certified · insurance-recognised reports
04

Blocked drains & colonne d'immeuble

Apartment syndic floods reported via a backed-up column, a grease-clogged kitchen stack, a child's toy lodged in the WC trap. High-pressure jetting, camera inspection and same-day clearance — and if the responsibility boundary lies upstream, we file the report your régie needs.

Dispatch protocol

Four minutes, four steps, one certified plumber at your door.

From the first ring to the first wrench — a transparent, journalistically documented sequence designed to neutralise the panic of a flooded apartment at 3 a.m. Every step is timed, recorded and disclosed in plain French.

  1. 01
    00:00 — 00:45

The call, triaged by a human.

A bilingual dispatcher — never a voicemail — answers within eight rings. We classify the emergency (burst pipe, boiler failure, sewer backflow, gas smell) and capture your address, floor, access code and any vulnerable occupants. If water is actively flowing, we walk you through the local shut-off before we hang up.

  2. 02
    00:45 — 02:00

    A flat-rate quote, spoken aloud.

Before we dispatch a vehicle, the dispatcher reads you a fixed-rate quote aligned to the regulated Parisien artisan barème — no meter running, no door-opening fee, no weekend surcharge. You approve the number, or you don't. Nothing moves until you say oui.

  3. 03
    02:00 — 22:00

A tracked van, a named plumber.

The nearest Paris 911-employed Artisan d'État certified plumber is routed by GPS. You receive an SMS with the technician's first name, photograph, vehicle plate and a live tracking link. Our 2024 average on-site arrival across all 20 arrondissements: 22 minutes, median 19.

  4. 04
    On arrival

    Mitigation first, invoice second.

The plumber isolates the leak, protects adjacent rooms and documents the damage for insurance before any repair work begins. You receive a paper invoice, a décennale-insurance certificate and, when applicable, a direct-billing form for AXA, Allianz or Generali. No surprise line items.

Before you call

Before you call, the answers our dispatchers give most often.

Four questions Parisians ask — sometimes at midnight, sometimes on a bank holiday — about pricing, surcharges, gas leaks and insurance. Plain answers, no hedging.

Will the price change once the plumber is inside?

No. The dispatcher reads you a flat-rate quote aligned to the regulated Parisien artisan barème before any vehicle is dispatched. The number you approve is the number you pay. If the on-site diagnosis reveals a problem outside the original scope, the plumber stops, calls the dispatcher, and a new fixed quote is read to you for approval — no silent additions, no door-opening fees.

Do you charge extra on nights, weekends or French public holidays?

No surcharge. Paris 911 operates 24/7/365 — including Nuit de la Saint-Sylvestre, 1er Mai and 14 Juillet — at the same flat rates as a Tuesday afternoon. The quote you receive on a Sunday at 2 a.m. is identical to the one you would have received at 14h on a Monday. We disclose this in writing on every invoice.

I smell gas. What is the protocol before you arrive?

The dispatcher will first ask you to ventilate the room, avoid any electrical switch or flame, and — if it is safe to do so — close the gas compteur. We then dispatch a plumber certified in gas-line intervention (PG gaz) simultaneously with a GrDF notification on our behalf. If the situation is not safe to wait, we will tell you to evacuate and call 18 (Sapeurs-Pompiers) immediately, then stay on the line with you until they arrive.

Can you invoice my insurance directly?

For water-damage and post-burglary boarding-up interventions, yes — we have direct-billing agreements with AXA, Allianz and Generali, and we produce the décennale insurance certificate and RC Pro attestation (coverage up to €3M) that most French home-insurance policies require. For all other insurers, we issue the compliant invoice and attestation within 24 hours so you can submit a reimbursement claim without delay. Final reimbursement always depends on your specific policy terms.

Still hesitant? A real human dispatcher is on the line right now.
